The 2016 edition of the Querceto Contemporanea art program, occurring at the Accademia Libera Natura e Cultura in Querceto (Pisa) during the summer, inaugurates with the solo exhibit “e se il vicolo fosse cieco?” (what if the road was dead-end?) by Luca Serasini, held from May 15th to 19th June. Following
his solo show “Prevalentemente rosso” in 2009, Serasini comes back working both within the space of Accademia, and the mystical place of Querceto itself. This time, the project revolves around both concept and significance of the architectural (and mental) structure of the labyrinth, read as the symbol of the contemporary man’s coercive situation. Not accidentally, this man, entrapped in its own labyrinth and in the one that the society has built for him, wears a Bull mask as a modern Minotaur. In the exhibition space, the idea of multiplicity is pushed to the limit; the viewer enters an intricate game of reflections, fragments, hanging elements and works on the floor, while he/she is asked to face his/her own limits, fears and idiosyncrasies. Concurrently, the idea of working with the issue of labyrinth is suggested by the geography of Querceto, its history, legends and atmosphere. The photography path that Serasini creates outside the exhibition space and all along the tiny streets of the medieval hamlet becomes a precious tool in the discovery of natural elements, hidden corners and details of the place itself.
